From its humble beginnings as a homemade mount in Tarifa, the Flymount has taken over three years of research and development. And now it has finally gone to manufacture! We hope to receive pre-production models in the next couple of weeks. Once we OK these, we are on the home run.

Pentax are launching the all new WS80, a budget version of the recently released W80.

The WS80 has a lower resistance to water than the W80, and a 10 megapixel rating instead of the W80's 12.1.

However, the WS80 is lighter than it's more expensive sibling, at less than 125g including battery and card, and can capture high definition 1280 x 720 video at 30 frames per second.

We look at seven waterproof digitial cameras for your next outdoor adventure

Today's point and shoot digital cameras are easier to use than ever, with face detection, smart exposure modes, and image-stabilized optics that compensate for camera movement. But get caught out in the rain with any of them, or take them out for a water-bound adventure, and you'll either need to stash them in a jacket pocket or buy a dry bag just to take them along.

Before 2009, only two major companies made waterproof digital cameras: Olympus and Pentax. For 2009, Panasonic, Fujifilm, and Canon have joined the fray, each offering a single waterproof camera, two of which are also rugged, meaning they can take a drop to concrete from a specified height.

What they all have. All seven of the digital cameras in this roundup are competent cameras that will capture usable images, bringing back memories that other cameras would miss. They each have one crucial element that makes them valuable: their ability to play in the water right along with you.

They're also all easy to use, generally speaking, defaulting to full Auto modes that make sure you get the shot more often than not. They all shoot movies with sound, as well as stills, and they all have internal optics, meaning that their lenses are all concealed inside the body of the camera, so you have little need to worry about damage to protruding lens elements.

You'll find sealed doors that you have to learn how to care for, and they all use lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, so you'll have to remember to bring the charger along on longer trips. If you're shooting video more than stills, you'll need an additional battery.

Note also that none of these waterproof cameras has an optical viewfinder, so how the LCD performs in direct sunlight is also important.

Where they differ. Along with image quality, a camera's responsiveness and interface are important. More responsive cameras, especially those with faster shutter lag, are going to get the shot more often than the slower models. So if action is your thing, you're going to want to pay attention to the shutter lag numbers, as well as whether the cameras helped or hindered while getting the shot.

I want you to join me once again in documenting the diversity of our daily routines and rituals. Continuing with the
theme of the original project, each picture must be taken at 2:00 PM Eastern Time -- 7:00 in London, 11:00 AM in Los Angeles, etc. -- but this time
I’m upping the ante. For A Minute In The Life: Take 2, I’d like everyone to take two pictures (hence the title). The first picture should be of
whatever you are looking at when the minute arrives. The second should be taken immediately after the first, but in the opposite direction.

The gallery wonderfully depicts our every day lives. How is it that the mundane details of our day are so fascinating???

New Pentax W80

Pentax has released the 12.1mp Optio W80 digital camera aimed at fans of outdoor adventure and extreme sports. The compact is dustproof and waterproof to a depth of five metres and capable of operating in temperatures as cold as -10°C. It is also shockproof and can withstand a fall from a height of 1m.

Featuring an optical 5x zoom lens and 2.5in screen, the Optio W80 will cover focal lengths from 5mm to 25mm (equivalent in the 35mm format to approximately 28mm wide angle to 140mm telephoto).

Coupled with the Intelligent Zoom function, which allows even tighter zooming in on the subject, the zoom range can be extended to approximately 31.3 times.

The camera also captures video in high definition at 16:9 TV standard proportions at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. In movie shake reduction mode, the camera automatically compensates for camera shake. In underwater movie mode the compact chooses the optimum camera settings for recording.

In stills mode, the compact compensates for camera shake by processing affected images. When it detects low-lighting conditions it automatically raises its sensitivity to as high as ISO 6400, making it possible to use a higher shutter speed.

An auto picture mode selects the most appropriate shooting mode for point and shoot situations such as landscape, portrait, sport and an auto macro mode, which automatically switches the camera’s focus range to macro in close-up applications. It also features face recognition and smile capture technology.
